Cycas Revoluta (King Sago

A native to Ryukyu and Kyushu island in Japan king sago palm has a single brownish-black trunk 28 to 45cm thick.  The 60cm-1metre long deep dark green leaves are very stiff, oranges red seeds fall from the core when mature.

This single trunk feather leaf cycad prefers a well drained soil, either alkaline or acid though in alkaline soil can develop a manganese deficiency if not fed regularly.

The King Sago Palm likes to be watered regularly its salt tolerance is very good, and will stand a minimum temperature of -8C

The Cycas Revoluta is long used as an ornamental plant throughout Europe it is an eye-catching specimen in an open space or with other foliage plants.  It looks superb as a container plant for patio, indoor, or near a pool.
