Livistona Chinensis (Chinese Fan Palm)

 

Widely cultivated throughout the world, the Chinese Fan Palm is a native to Taiwan and southern Japan, The trunk is about 30cm in diameter, the leaves are 1,5m across and glossy green, it can reach an height of 9metre and will spread 15-16m.

 

Livistona Chilensis is slow to moderate grower and is not fussy will thrive in any soil as long as is well drained, does well on regular water and fertilizer.

The reason this Chinese palm is commonly grown is that is versatile, it will survive with a minimum temperature of -5c to -9c.

 

This is and ideal and an attractive palm as a single plant in a formal garden or in a informal tropical setting.
