This fan palm is quite similar in appearance to Trachycarpus Fortunei, but has shorter, stiffer leaves that stand more erect and aren't as deeply divided. It is more cold and wind tolerant.
In my opinion it is a more attractive palm to Trachycarpus fortunei as over time it will build layers of leaves that look very impressive whilst the underlying leaves remain looking good for many years. Also along with Fortunei is one of the hardiest palms available -15 to - 17oC
